The mechanics

How employment and task work operations are run

Recruitment arrives unsolicited through a messenger app with a role that pays well for work that requires no experience: rating products, optimising listings, completing app tasks. The first small payouts are real and land in a wallet. Then tasks start requiring the worker to deposit their own funds to 'unlock a commission tier', and a mistake in a task locks the balance until a correction fee is paid. A parallel version has the worker receive and forward payments from strangers, which makes them the money mule in someone else's fraud.

Checks that break it

  1. 01No legitimate employer requires you to deposit money to start, unlock, or correct paid work.
  2. 02Verify the recruiter through the company's official careers page and a phone number you sourced yourself.
  3. 03Never receive and forward payments for an employer; that is money laundering regardless of what you were told.
